Hans Tschida is Sweet Wine Maker of the Year 2010

The Worlds Best Wines 2010-2011. IWC, Elliott & Thmpson

"The Angerhof Tschida wine estate in Burgenland has been one of the top performers of the IWC, winning an array of trophies and medals on virtually an annual basis since 1996 for outstanding sweet wines. If you have never heard of the winery, it's probably because owner and passionate winemaker Hans Tschida shuns the limelight, and prefers to stay at home and tender to his 25 hectares of vineyards in the quaint winemaking town of Illmitz on the right bank of Neusiedlersee. It is a place that seems to have been created to produce grest sweet wines, with foffy autumn mornings giving way to dry sunny afternoons, producing perfect conditions for the development ofbotrytis. The range of wines begins with lightly botrytised Spätlese to the rich and luscious delights of Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA). hans is finally getting therecognition he deserves. One particular wine, a 2006 Beerenauslese, was served at the Nobel Award Winners' Banquet in December 2009. Coupled with the doubleaccolade from this year's IWC of Sweet Winemaker of The Year and the Len Evanstrophy for consistent performance over the past five years, and it surely won't be long before he appears on the radar for wine lovers all over the world."
